Safety & FAQ's

Safety

Lizard Boy's Mobile Zoo has NEVER had a child injured during a program

and that is no accident

All of our animals go through as many as eight months of conditioning to assure that they will behave predictably.

Our animals are chosen for their docile nature as well as their ability to handle stress.

Animals showing signs of stress are removed from the program immediately!

All enclosures are well maintained and routinely bleached to minimize the risk of generating harmful bacteria.

Hand wipes and hand sanitizer are always on hand, in case there is no place for the children to wash ( i.e. parks ).

Every show ends with the Hand Washing Oath.

Animal Health And Welfare

These are more then show props......... They are also beloved pets

Consideration for the animals well-being is paramount.

All enclosure are oversized , very clean and meet all of the animal's needs

( temperature - light - humidity - hiding places ).

NO LIVE ANIMALS ARE EVER FED TO OUR CARNIVORES!!!!!

( Live feeders are a danger to the predators and it is inhumane to the food-animal ).

We maintain duplicates of many of our animals to prevent any one animal from working too much.

Sick or stressed animals will stay out of rotation until they are healthy.

Animals who show continued signs of stress are retired and sold or adopted.

Party Dos & Don'ts

We really only have two rules:

#1 No Eating

The concern about bacteria, such as salmonella, is a real one.

We do all we can to minimize the risk that these animals will harbor harmful bacteria, but better safe than sorry.

#2 We must have shade

Even reptiles can over-heat in the hot southern California sun

Good Ideas

Having chairs available for the children.

We do not require that you provide chairs for the children however seats greatly lengthen the children's attention span and make the show run much smoother.

Feeding the children prior to the start of the show minimizes the chance that a guest will wander off and grab food with out washing up.

Always book the show at least an hour after you have told the guests to arrive ( that way no one gets left out ).

Have lots of film handy and don't be afraid to ask Lizard Boy to bring an animal back to a child for a picture.

The best shows are always the ones where the parents watch the show with the children. Our program is designed to be as entertaining for adults as for kids.

Hardly a week goes by without a parent saying that they had no idea their child knew so much about animals.

Trust me your children will amaze you.

Bad Ideas

Never force a child to touch an animal they aren't comfortable touching.

Never allow children to handle rodents ( mice - rats - rabbits ) prior to the show.

Please keep dogs locked up.

Our Philosophy

We do this because we love it!

We do our best not to scare anyone.

Our aim is to create understanding of these amazing animals.
